Print

I served as lead editor for Outlander Magazine’s debut print publication.

The issue’s theme, conceptualised by me, spotlights people in culture, established and new, who have innovated in their industry — leaning into the magazine’s own legacy in the media space.

With stars Justin Bieber and Travis Scott fronting the two covers, these influential figures drew attention to the wide range of talent features that included Skepta, Aitor Throup, and KidSuper, as well as brand editorials for Stone Island, Hermés, Byredo, and many more.

As well as directing the editorial from ideation to execution, I worked closely with in-house design, production and operations teams, and managed a team of external global contributors to compile, edit, and deliver a cohesive and complete magazine to meet a tight print deadline.

Outlander Magazine
The First Ever

For Stone Island’s 40th anniversary, Hypebeast created a special-edition magazine to commemorate this milestone.

As well as curating and co-editing the complete magazine, I also compiled the archival research and wrote a number of features that included covering innovative figures from the brand and its legacy in the music space.

With an ethos of “contextualising the present by exploring the past” Original Shift was tasked with covering the history of Dr. Martens as well as positioning it in a contemporary light. The result was a coffee-table book.

As editor-in-chief, I established the editorial direction and execution, edited the publication, managed a team of contributors, wrote several features, and defined the roll-out strategy for its release. The insights behind the magazine were then presented as a panel talk at the brand’s EMEA HQ in London to the full Dr. Martens team.

As Original Shift’s first-ever independently published book, we teamed up with London-based label Aeliza for its third anniversary. In addition to the book, we curated an exhibition space, pop-up, and a panel talk hosted by me.

Why - Three Years

I was commissioned to write an in-depth article chronicling the history and legacy of underground British hip-hop from the ‘90s to the present day. My research and analysis uncovered several influential movements that laid the foundation for the scene’s current success.
